Let’s get right into it.
Those who know me know I’m not one to hold back an opinion…so since everyone nowadays seems to be sharing their thoughts when it comes to diet and nutritional advice, why not clutter things up just a BIT more by putting my stance out there as well. But get ready, because it’s a hōl thing…
The wellness dilemma: While more people are actively pursuing well-being, the process has become overwhelming. The wellness industry is encouraging people to commit to their health, yet doing very little to actually support them with the constant promotion of the latest trends, fads, quick fixes, and contradictory advice, specifically in the realm of diet and nutrition. It says it’s here to help…but mostly just itself. Cue the detox powders, mood gummies, and content creators shilling 14-step morning routines that involve celery juice and spiritual awakenings by 7:30am.
We truly have forgotten just how simple it can be…
Now here’s the thing: if you’re actively listening to your body, you can always tell how different foods affect it but the problem is so many of us are either disconnected from that listening or are distracted by all the food fads, diets, and latest wellness products that promise XYZ results. Telling you why you’re doing something wrong, calling out your flaws…at your baseline not good enough, and essentially that you kind of suck…but for a price, we can make you feel a little less awful.
And while I live and breathe this space, and genuinely believe many founders and brands are doing incredible work, I also know how easy it is to get swept up. To keep chasing better, newer, “cleaner,” trendier. We trade in our common sense for curated feeds. We follow routines that aren’t even ours.
If you’re asking us…At the end of the day, we’re all looking for the same thing. To be happy. To be healthy. To belong. For ourselves…the best version of it, that is…and we have a feeling the solution is a lot simpler than we make it out to be.
Our POV: The basics are clear. The rest is debatable…so Eat like you give a hol.
Xx,
Molly
